1965 Porsche 911
First shown to the public in Autumn 1963, production of the first Porsche 911 began in September 1964 and continued to 1989. The 911 was notable for being rear-engined and air-cooled. From its inception, the 911 was modified both by private teams and the factory itself for racing, rallying and other types of automotive competition. The original 911 is often cited as the most successful competition car ever.
This 1965 road-going model is one of the first right-hand-drive versions, and has previously featured as a Goodwood Revival course car. At this year’s Revival, we will be celebrating the 911’s 60th anniversary, with a one-make race exclusively for Porsche 911s – all of which will be running on sustainable fuel.
Annual insurance prices start from £362.72.
1965 Ford Mustang GT350
The first-generation Ford Mustang was manufactured from March 1964 until 1973. The Mustang’s styling, with its long hood and short rear, proved wildly popular and inspired a host of competition.
As a result of his early racing success, Ford partnered with Carroll Shelby to develop a high-performance version of the Mustang, the Shelby Mustang GT350, which featured the same V8 engine found in the Shelby Cobra 289.
At this year’s Goodwood Revival, for what would have been Carroll’s centenary year, we will bring together significant cars that Carroll raced, engineered and managed, to celebrate his legacy in motorsport.
Annual insurance prices start from £124.00.
1980 Lotus Essex Turbo Esprit
The Lotus Esprit, designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, was built between 1976 and 2004. This “Essex Turbo” version was launched in 1980, and was the first turbocharged version of the car offered by the factory. The Essex Turbo also featured a dry sump version of the Type 910 engine, as well as upgraded brakes and suspension.
At this year’s Revival, we will be celebrating the 75th anniversary of Lotus with a showcase of 75 historic cars that will pay homage to “The Chapman Years”, from the marque’s foundation by Colin Chapman in 1948 until his death in 1982.
Annual insurance prices start from £152.75.
